What’s “really’ in a dream then?

To follow up from my dream post the other day I thought I’d delve a bit deeper.

We all dream.
We all MUST dream.
If we don’t dream we literally go nuts, so even if you don’t remember your dreams, be assured you ARE having them….or else you ARE nuts. πŸ™‚

So why?
It’s a really stupid thing – I’ve said this before…SLEEPING is a dumb thing.
What a waste of time! A third of your life lying down utterly useless in bed.
To dream.

So why DO we dream..oh there are so many theories.
I don’t dispute the idea that it’s a way to “de junk” your mind. Of course!
The brain gets seriously overburdened by all the stimuli it receives so the de junking thing makes sense.

Here are some more theorised “reasons” for dreaming…

But essentially there is no actual proof of why we dream. At least I don’t think there is?
So it’s a bit of a mystery then.

Ok, so “what if”….. What if we truly ARE a spirit being within a human shell?
That we really are – the CORE of us really is a “soul” and we’re just using this physical manifestation to experience …a human LIFE.
What if then, when we dream it’s really time to recharge our “souls”.
You know….kind of like charging your phone

Perhaps even….woah, I’m getting deep now….
Perhaps a way for all of our CONNECTIVE souls (I really do believe we are all connected somehow) to share and exchange energies/information? in a state of altered consciousness….in this “resting” state.

Obviously the whole WORLD doesn’t sleep at exactly the same time….but maybe half the hemisphere all lying down – dreaming? at more or less the same time…Well, that’s some pretty strong energy happening isn’t it?
When you think about it then…at all times of the day, all over the world there’s this collective unconsciousness thing going on between very large groups of ….souls.
Or just crazy?

All food for thought hey.

Well how this for thought…

On the 12th of February I posted something on Facebook…I posted it because I always do this thing where if something “odd” happens that frightens me because it feels like it might be some sort of premonition I MUST tell someone – therefore in my screwed logic, if I put it “out there” then it won’t come true.
This is what I wrote…

“I woke up at 4.30 am with Shai’s voice in my head saying “It’s time.”
What does this mean? Oh…it sounded ominous…or my paranoia made it sound ominous. She didn’t SAY it ominously. It’s just so open to interpretation. What? What does this MEAN?”

On the 16th of February my mothers partner committed suicide.
She showed me his suicide note. It was brief and at the end it said “It’s time”.

What do you make of that then hey?

Ages ago a similar thing happened when my mother woke up with MY voice in her head saying “You’re going to a funeral soon.” It unnerved her so much at the time that she mentioned it to me.
The next day her neighbour was hit by a car and died a few days later in hospital.

What are we ?
Or collective souls?

Wow. Deep Tracy ! But a great post. I agree with the soul thing. I could never understand how the brain, a blob of goo, can hold all our memories, thoughts and ideas. I believe we have a wifi access to a store of memories. That thoughts and ideas are fed to us when asked for and needed. Dreams give us either a reboot or we have accessed our spiritual Skype, YouTube or Google. Our brain is just a communications device to whatever we have tuned into. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

Our “spiritual skype” . I like that πŸ™‚ Yes, I do think our brains are just a mere object or device as you say…
“We” are the input, making use of it.

  2. I just love how your mind works πŸ™‚ how about we are collective souls, with a hint of witchery? Interesting ideas you come up with though, especially about dream time, that dream of yours has stuck and got you thinking it seems?

This life is full of mystery. I believe we are more than just our bodies and our chemical reactions, and I agree that we are all connected. It sounds as if you have psychic gifts, and you got them from your mother.

    • desertrose7 says:

Definitely there is much more….and things we perhaps just don’t have the capability to understand – or don’t actually NEED to in order to accomplish what we’re here for? Like I just said to someone else…I believe we ALL have psychic abilities. Some people are just more open to recognising it.
      Thanks for reading πŸ™‚

i believe we are all connected in the universe. we are all energy. at times we receive messages and they can come in many forms.

Collective souls. And I’m fascinated by this and dreams – especially the reoccurring ones. Anytime I’m going through something that is emotionally heavy, I always have a lot of dreams about houses and water, and I always get a phone call of some kind. That’s not a coincidence, and I do in fact, believe that people are communicating when they are not doing it verbally – the vibe thing. This is too deep. Too much coffee..

    • desertrose7 says:

Hi πŸ™‚ Interesting that you say that those times you have dreams of houses and water. I have been dreaming a LOT lately about houses. Always the same kind of house…long with many really creepy old abandoned type rooms…. Anyway, I reckon a house in your dream signifies security. To me it does anyway. So add in water (emotions) sounds like it spells ” insecurity of emotions”, So your dream is mirroring your conscious thoughts? Perhaps saying “Hey…..DO something about this!” What do you reckon? πŸ™‚ Oh is the phone call in the dream too? See, it’s a “message”. Someone or something is trying to REACH you. (your subconscious? Your spirit?) Vibes? Oh yeah….very real. Our primitive brains when we were cavemen and women RELIED on this every day! We don’t use that part of our brain as much anymore. If indeed it is in the brain at all? So much more than just the senses we know and understand. Everyone has “psychic abilities” … I believe. We just don’t recognise that fact.

        Hi, T πŸ™‚

All great stuff – loved the comment. I think symbols in dreams vary a little bit from source to source, so everybody is gonna always have a slightly different interpretation for what they mean.

To me, a house is a symbol of yourself, and each room represents aspect. Bedrooms usually symbolize sex or security, the basement is the subconscious, etc. Water is emotions to me too – choppy water is a symbol for turbulent times, calm water is peace of mind or an understanding or acceptance of something.

I always write down my symbols if I have a really vivid dream and look it up in the dream dictionary. It always feels spot on – lines up perfect with whatever it is that I’m experiencing at the time.

I think ‘psychic abilities’ is more of an ability to project likely events quickly. It’s like honed anxiety haha. If this happens, that will happen, and then that will happen. Ya know? Just my thoughts. I think we have a really strong animal sense still, but some just don’t believe in it. Yet, everybody gets ‘vibes’?! Tune in, folks!

      • desertrose7 says:

What do you reckon seeing an old woman walking a small dog that’s only got two front legs means then. (that was another recent dream I had)
So very true about symbols….everyone has a different meaning attached to a certain thing. Two legged dogs are something I’ve never encountered before though πŸ™‚
I love this sort of stuff. Really gets you thinking….and wondering.

      • Chowderhead says:

Ok, I use dreammoods dot com to look up symbols. From what I read, I think it might have something to do with a toxic friendship, or a friend that might be holding you back in some way. That would be my guess, but have a read! It’s an awesome website.

  6. I love the way you chew things over. I’ve been panicking recently, because I ‘lost’ your Blog, but all is well because I’ve found it again πŸ™‚
